Introducing Maui’s First Inclusive Prom for Youth with Special Needs

Imua Family Services is thrilled to introduce Dream Prom 2026, a brand-new and deeply meaningful event making its debut right here on Maui. While inclusive proms have touched hearts in communities across the country, Dream Prom is the first of its kind on Maui—and is designed to ensure that every young person has the chance to experience the joy, confidence, and magic of a prom night created just for them.

Dream Prom will take place on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at the breathtaking King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapu, with doors opening at 6:00 pm. The evening is specially designed for youth with special needs, ages 16–20, and promises an unforgettable night filled with music, dancing, delicious food, and red-carpet-worthy moments.

This isn’t just a dance, it’s a celebration of individuality, belonging, and confidence. From the moment participants arrive, they’ll be treated like stars, surrounded by a welcoming, inclusive environment where everyone is celebrated exactly as they are. Every detail of Dream Prom is thoughtfully planned to create a safe and uplifting experience that honors the unique spirit of each participant.

One of the most special elements of Dream Prom is that no one attends alone. Participants may bring their own date (also ages 16–20), or they can be paired with a compassionate Dream Prom companion through Imua Family Services. These companions serve as dates, dance partners, and cheerleaders for the night—helping ensure that everyone has someone by their side to share the laughter, music, and memories.

To make the night even more magical, formalwear fittings will be provided thanks to the generous support of Elly’s Formal Wear & Bridal and Angel Hands. From elegant gowns to sharp suits, each guest will be styled in a way that makes them feel confident, comfortable, and ready to shine. We also will be offering hair and makeup appointments before the event provided by the team at Isla James Salon in Paia.

Dream Prom is also a powerful invitation to the broader Maui community. Imua Family Services is seeking volunteers and event sponsors to help bring this dream to life. Community support plays a vital role in creating the experience—from decorations and entertainment to keepsake moments that make the night truly unforgettable. Sponsorships and donations directly support these essential details, helping ensure that every youth enjoys the full magic of the evening.

Dream Prom is a program of Dream Imua, which has been creating meaningful experiences for Maui County children facing adversity since 1990. What began as A Keiki’s Dream has now grown to include this beautiful new celebration for older teens—expanding the mission of hope, joy, and possibility.
