Big News for Maui’s Youth: Imua Family Services + PYCC Team Up for a Brighter Future

There’s something exciting happening on Maui’s Northshore, and it’s all about uplifting the next generation. Imua Family Services and the Paia Youth & Cultural Center (PYCC) have officially joined forces in a dynamic new partnership that will expand support services for youth and families across Maui.

This collaboration is more than just two organizations working together—it’s a shared commitment to empowering young people, strengthening families, and building a healthier, more connected community.

What This Partnership Means for Maui

Beginning in May 2025, Imua Family Services and PYCC will launch a range of new programs and expanded services at PYCC, combining the best of both organizations’ strengths. The partnership will enrich PYCC’s already vibrant youth programs with additional support systems that meet the diverse and evolving needs of young people and their families.

New offerings will include:

  • Family Support Services: Providing education, tools, and resources to help families navigate challenges and build stronger connections at home.
  • Mental Health & Wellness Counseling: Offering accessible counseling services and professional referrals to support emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Case Management: Creating individualized support plans to help families access essential services and stay on a path toward success.
  • Teen Peer Support Groups: Facilitating safe spaces where teens can share, connect, and engage in meaningful, guided conversations and activities.

This collaboration is designed to ensure that youth in Northshore, Upcountry, and beyond have access to the kind of comprehensive support that builds resilience, fosters self-confidence, and inspires leadership.

A Shared Vision, A Shared Commitment

At the heart of this new initiative is a deep, shared belief: that every young person deserves the opportunity to thrive. Imua Family Services brings decades of experience in child development and family support, while PYCC offers a rich environment where young people connect through culture, recreation, and learning. Together, the organizations are creating a holistic support system where youth are not just cared for, but truly empowered.

“We are excited to partner with the Paia Youth & Cultural Center to create a lasting impact on our youth, families, and the Maui community,” said Dean Wong, Executive Director of Imua Family Services. “Together, we can apply our collective expertise to provide comprehensive support that empowers our young people to thrive. Investing in the outcomes of our children and youth is an investment that directly impacts our future.”

Benjamin Rachunas, Director of PYCC, echoed that enthusiasm: “This collaboration enables both organizations to deepen their connections with young people on Maui, providing our youth with the tools and support necessary to succeed. By working together, we will nurture resilient individuals, future contributors, and inspirational leaders for our community.”

What’s Next?

Community members can look forward to a series of upcoming events and workshops throughout the summer and fall, designed to introduce the new programs and give families the opportunity to connect with the teams at both Imua Family Services and PYCC.

More details will be shared on both organizations’ websites and social media platforms in the weeks ahead. Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, educator, or simply someone who believes in the potential of Maui’s youth, this partnership invites you to be a part of something meaningful.

The journey ahead is filled with promise—and it begins with connection, compassion, and collaboration. Stay tuned, get involved, and help us build a brighter, more supportive Maui for everyone, because when we support our youth, we strengthen our island. And when we do it together, anything is possible.

Let’s build a brighter future—hand in hand, heart to heart.
